I come from: Krasnogorodsk, Pskov Region, Russia
What I studied before MA SES: I graduated from the Faculty of linguistics and cross-cultural communication, Novgorod State University
Why I study in the MA SES program:: I think this program has a lot of advantages. It is taught in English and the course is extensive, so you start not only to speak English, but to think English and that certainly means the improvement of language skills. There is also an opportunity to begin or continue to study German, and knowledge of several foreign languages is undoubtedly useful. Many courses are given by teachers from abroad, which means that students deal with the European system of education. The information presented at the classes is also very up-to-date and numerous discussions and workshops help you to understand the material better and develop critical thinking.
Theory and practice are combined in this program and while doing their internships students can both get work experience and collect data for their master thesis. There is a chance to visit other countries (winter school in Germany or the period of doing internship, if students choose to go abroad) which enriches your cultural experience and broadens your horizons.
What I particularly like about this program is that it's challenging. It forces you to think and do it quickly, to explore, critique, evaluate and so on. There is always some new and interesting information every day. I hope that MA SES will help me to prepare better for my future career and learn more about different processes that are going on in modern society.
